More than 20 million people in 28 countries have seen “We Will Rock You”. This mega musical – featuring Queen’s greatest hits of all time – opened in the Netherlands more spectacular than ever! American superstar Anastacia headlines as Killer Queen. “We Will Rock You” was performed in Amsterdam (AFAS live) from 5 to 8 December 2020 and in The Hague (World Forum Theatre) from 13 December 2020 to 5 January 2021. This version of the world-famous Queen and Ben Elton musical is presented entirely in English and is a sensational ode to the iconic music of the rock legend: Queen. The show features unforgettable songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Killer Queen” and, of course, “We Will Rock You”.

“We Will Rock You” is produced by Peep Arrow and TEC Entertainment especially for the Netherlands in the most sensational version of all time, directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo (known for hits such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Mamma Mia!, Evita and Billy Elliot, among others). For Anastacia, the American superstar, the role of Killer Queen in “We Will Rock You” is a dream come true. The singer is one of the biggest stars in the world. She was on stage with the original Queen lineup in 2005 for a concert in South Africa and still regularly performs the band’s repertoire. The role of Killer Queen in “We Will Rock You” has always been in her thoughts. Anastacia is very popular in the Netherlands. She released her debut album Not That Kind in 2000. It went three times platinum and has sold over 35 million copies worldwide. Her debut single “I am Outta Love” was in the Dutch Top 40 for 21 weeks and reached number three in the charts. In total, Anastacia has released seven studio albums and two compilation albums and was featured in the compilation Divas Las Vegas.

“We Will Rock You” is above all a phenomenal tribute to Queen songs. The music is still very popular in the Netherlands. The most recent edition of the NPO Radio2 Top 2000 featured no less than 35 different Queen songs, including eight songs that had never been recorded before. The song “Bohemian Rhapsody” topped the NPO Radio2 Top 2000 list 16 times and is the most streamed classic rock song of all time and the most streamed track of the 20th century. The film Bohemian Rhapsody, an ode to singer Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS in 1991, won the Golden Globe for Best Film and Rami Malek won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury. The biopic Queen had 1.5 million admissions in the Netherlands last year, grossed €13 million and is the most visited film in Dutch cinemas in 2018.

“We Will Rock You” is a futuristic adventure with 24 of the greatest hits of the legendary British rock band Queen. The story, written by Ben Elton, is set in an era where live music and musical instruments are prohibited. But young people rebel and fight against the all-powerful corporation that controls their lives with digitally produced pop music. The original version of “We Will Rock You” premiered on May 12, 2002 at the Dominion Theatre in the West End and ran for over 4,600 performances. The rock spectacle featuring the music of Queen has been seen by over 20 million people on all six continents and in over 28 countries.
